Chess Therapy | Hide and Seek

I sat down again and played until the position was real. This is that second sitting.

Chess therapy. Hide and seek. The king hides. The other side counts to ten and comes looking.

Move eight. White gives up the knight on f7 to pull Black’s king out of its corner.

Black to move. Take the knight, or leave it? If the king takes, where does it hide next?

The king takes. Then it runs to g7, back to f7, over to e7, down to d8, and finally to c8. White keeps checking. Every hiding spot is a square the pieces can reach.

20.Qxe8#. Name the square where Black should have stopped running. A king that keeps moving is not safe. It is just being chased.

I wish you the best of luck!!
