Chess is like Golf

Chess is like golf. You play the course in front of you, one hole at a time.

Eighteen holes-in-one only happen in mini golf. Opening traps only work in speed chess. If your whole plan is a trap, you are playing mini golf. Learn to play the whole course.

Some combinations are a par 3. Some are a par 4 or a par 5. Know the length of the hole before you pick the club.

You can play through the trees. It works if you know how to use blunders to your advantage. I would surely recommend the easier way, straight down the middle.

You will land in a sand trap. To get out, be clever.

Finesse or power. Positional or tactical. A soft chip or a big drive. A slow squeeze or a sharp combination. Good players carry both clubs and know when to pull each one.

Then the scorecard. Was the draw par for the course?

Maybe you should have had a lower score. Look back and ask if you missed an easier win.

Maybe you should have had a higher score. Look back and ask if your opponent let you off too easily.

Either way, you go over the card and play the next round better.

I wish you the best of luck!!
